Our church family is very generous when it comes to giving to our local food pantry here in Athens. One of our members made a large thermometer for us to keep track of how we do each month. All food items are counted at the end of the month and we try to go above the marker for the previous month. We take food donations all month long. People bring non-perishable food in on Sunday and can also drop off food donations during the week while the office is open.
We are very dedicated to helping those in need of groceries that otherwise might go hungry. In the summer months we really focus on food items that are geared for those children that are out of school and missing the free breakfast and lunch that they receive during the school year.
We have a couple that volunteers at the food pantry and they are able to keep us up to date on what the food pantry is very low on and how our donations help our community.
